A Neighborhood Rich in History; Each Home with its Own Story

Thank you to our neighborhood home owners who have generously agreed to open up their homes for this tour.

1731 Lamont Street NW

April marks five years in the neighborhood for the current owners of this 1907 home. They particularly love the high ceilings and the coloful facade and have tried to preserve the homes’ original details.

Their sense of style is put to good use inside.

1827 Park Road NW

Originally built in 1907 - one of eleven detached houses on the north side of the 1800 block of Park Rd. Each house had a unique architect and builder, and no the entire block is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Purchased in 2017 from Rob & Linda Low, who, for over 30 years, had maintained nearly all of the original details (after painstakingly resuscitating it from disrepair).

The current owners spent nearly two years renovating the property, to restore the house to its original historic character, combined with modern amenities & charm.

Builder: Fajen & Brown

Architect: Thomson & Cooke.

1809 Park Road NW

A special home in Mt P!

Originally built sometime around 1890 (exact year unknown), as the first of 11 detached homes on the north side of the 1800 block of Park Road. Originally, a simple "farmhouse-style" Victorian house, the Queen Anne style front "turret" was added shortly thereafter.

Most recently purchased in 2022, the home underwent a much-needed gut renovation with nearly all historic details being meticulously preserved and restored, including the nearly 40 windows, original moulding, trim, stair details and Victorian-era bathtub. The cedar siding was also restored and re-painted to its original color. 3rd floor skylights were added for light and additional headroom to make the space more livable.

The home’s backyard was combined with its neighbor, 1827 Park Road, to create a special, shared outdoor living space.

2045 Park Road NW

After seven years in the neighborhood, the current owners purchased 2045 Park Road at the end of 2020. A group of Mount Pleasant craftspeople came together with a new vision for the home, led by architect Erik Hoffland, builders Space Crafters, Inc and Ferris Custom Cabinetry. The result is light, airy, modern and kid-friendly with an incredible main floor wall of windows overlooking a deep, landscaped backyard.

1855 Irving Street NW

Mt P residents since 1993, the current owners have been here since July 5, 2000. Originally completed in 1925 for a judge and his family, the home originally contained nine bedrooms and was a boarding house during the 60s and 70s. In 1987 and 88, the home was fully renovated and is now six bedrooms plus 3.5 baths.

Nods to the past are still evident - the current dining room was the main eating area for boarders and the 2nd floor sleeping porch with its slanted ceilings is now a den. The owners have made their own personalizations, including a kitchen renovation in 2011, plus lifts and elevators installed to accommodate their son. The third floor bedrooms were combined to form one very special owners suite with an office and dressing room.
